The search for Shah Rukh Khan's leading lady in "Happy New Year" has finally come to an end. The film's director Farah Khan has decided to introduce a fresh face in the upcoming venture.
Farah has finally zeroed in on a newcomer for the project, but the final decision rests with Shah Ruhk. "Yes, Farah has found the girl. But now, she is waiting for Shah Rukh's return from an award function in Macau. Once he is back, she will show him the screen tests and the auditions before he gives a green signal. But since Farah has chosen the actor, we can say that the name is almost confirmed," an insider told Hindustan Times.
The identity of the newcomer has not been revealed, but rumours are abuzz that she is a talented dancer and in her 20s. "Farah wanted a pretty girl who could act as well as dance, since the role is of a bar dancer from Bhandup. That's why it took over three months for her to find the right person," the insider said.
More than 70 girls including several prominent Bollywood actresses had auditioned for the role. "Every possible actor from the industry tried her luck but Farah was very clear about what was she looking for. Now she is eagerly waiting for Shah Rukh's response. Once he says yes, she will start polishing the actor's dancing as well as acting skills," added the insider.
Confirming the report, Farah said, "Yes, the girl is almost finalised."
Farah said that she is now waiting for Shah Rukh to make a formal announcement about the film's leading lady.
Reports said that Shah Rukh will play the role of a psychotic lover in the film. The other cast members include Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani. The film's makers are also considering to rope in Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The shooting of "Happy New Year" will go on floors in September.
