Shah Rukh Khan's "Fan", which was initially slated for 14 August release, has now been postponed for a later date.
The official Twitter handle of Yash Raj Films confirmed the news posting, "YRF's #FAN release being delayed to complete never-seen-before VFX. New date coming soon."
This announcement was further confirmed by filmmaker Karan Johar, whose "Brothers", starring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, will now release on the date initially blocked by "Fan".
"Adi just called and asked me to release BROTHERS on the 14th of August,2015 as FAN is postponed...gestures likes this make my day special...," he tweeted.
During the superstar's ambitious world tour "SLAM! The Tour!" ahead of the release of "Happy New Year", he caught a flight to Los Angeles to get a special 3D face scanning for the film. Kay Arutyunyan, Producer at CounterPunch Studios, said he was at the studio to get a "high fidelity face scanning" done.
"He has a curiosity for technology and groundbreaking processes, and was very hands on during the shoot. It is clear that he takes his craft very seriously and works rigorously to perfect it for each and every film," DNA quoted Kay as saying.
In other news, the film will require Shah Rukh to essay a double role – a superstar and a commoner – for which Academy Award-winning makeup artist Greg Cannom has been pulled on board to design a special look for the star.
"We are attempting a never-seen before look for Shah Rukh which will be both challenging for us and exciting for the viewer. Understandably, this will be kept under wraps till the first look of the film is revealed, Maneesh informed The Times of India earlier last year.
The film will also feature "Humsafar" fame Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
