Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment may remake Rajesh Khanna's "Ittefaq" with two very interesting stars in the lead. Sources say Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are being considered for the roles.
According to a Catch News report, the young actor will play a passionate painter and the slightly senior star a cop. According to the storyline of the Yash Chopra directorial ("Ittefaq"), the artist and the official are supposed to be at loggerheads.
This isn't the first time that Varun and Nawazuddin would confront each other. The 2015 crime-drama, "Badlapur," saw the seething Raghu (Varun) on the lookout for his wife's killer Laik (Nawazuddin).
The tussle between the movie's central characters was a major highlight of the Sriram Raghavan film and lauded across the board.
Meanwhile last month, it had been reported that SRK was being considered for the project. A source told Absolute India that Ravi Chopra's son, Abhay Chopra, is ready to direct a film and has been working on a script.
Varun has "Dishoom" and "Judwaa 2" in the pipeline. He was scheduled to begin work on "Shuddhi," but the film has now been shelved. "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" is another project that he may feature in with Alia Bhatt by his side.
However, he's not thinking that far and has his eyes set on "Dishoom" for now. Directed by Rohit Dhawan, the actioner also stars John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez. Talking to The National earlier this year, Varun had said he and John have bare-bodied sequences and added that they had been hitting the gym regularly.
