All that has been revealed about Aanand L Rai's as-yet-untitled project with Shah Rukh Khan is that the superstar is playing a dwarf in it. The focus has slowly shifted to casting speculations around the film's leading ladies.
Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif have been loosely associated with the project for quite a while now. The latest addition to the casting rumours is Parineeti Chopra. Apparently, the young actress is in the running for the role and may fill up one of the two slots available for the female lead in the film.
"Aanand has been considering Parineeti amongst a few other actresses. There are two female lead slots in the film. However, Aanand will take a few more days to finalise the actresses," a source told SpotboyE.
Interestingly, Aanand has neither denied nor confirmed the story. "The film is still in the scripting stage and I am working on the cast. For me, casting an actress is a very emotional decision; so I need about 10-15 days more to take the decision," he said.
This statement was similar to the one he made when he was asked if Deepika is in final talks with the director for the project.
What else do we know about the project?
It is a VFX-heavy project, which means the pre and post-production will take time. Shah Rukh, in an interview with DNA, had said that he wouldn't be playing a short person by folding his knees adding that the role relies on special effects.
"It will need tightening. We will do it once and fail, maybe. But we will get it right because it has been done previously. I think it has been tried in 'The Hobbit.' But we have never used that technology in India," he further elaborated.
Revealing a bit more about the story and what one can expect from the film, Aanand told the Hindu that SRK's character is on ordinary one in "extraordinary" circumstances. The film travels overseas but stays true to Meerut. "So you will get to listen khadi boli and feel the temperament of the place...a dwarf with an attitude," he added.
Here's what SRK is up to now
He will begin Imtiaz Ali's film with Anushka Sharma in Europe in a few days. It is an out-and-out romantic film and the leading lady's third with the 50-year-old actor after "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" and "Jab Tak Hai Jaan."
