Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reacted to actress Jiah Nafisa Khan's suicide, saying that one should not give up life for love.

The 25-year-old actress, who was known for her role in Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Nishabd", was committed suicide by hanging at her flat in Sagar Sangeet Building in Juhu on 3 June. A troubled relationship with her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi seemed to have forced her to take the extreme step.

Shah Rukh Khan told reporters at launch of "Chennai Express" first look that one should respect life and should not give up despite problems that everybody faces.

"Everyone has different definition of love. Love is a universal thing. I play the role of a lover which are written by a set of people...it is their interpretation of love. But I feel we should respect life more than love," Press Trust of India quoted the actor as saying at the "Chennai Express" first look launch event.

"There are going to be difficult times in everyone's life but one must not give up, and respect life. Every problem will be sorted out, don't lose hope," he added.

Jiah Nafisa Khan, who made her film debut with Ram Gopal Varma's "Nishabd" and later acetd in Aamir Khan's "Ghajini" and Akshay Kumar's "Housefull", had left a six-page note, blaming Sooraj Pancholi of ill-treating her in their relationship.

Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was remanded to police custody on charges of abetting suicide of Jiah Khan after mother of the actress, Rabiya Khan filed an FIR against him alleging that her daughter took the extreme step because of abuse by him.

A six-page note allegedly written by the actress was found by the family, in which she had mentioned abuses in her relationship without naming anybody. The Mumbai police then uncovered five more letters exchanged between Sooraj Pancholi and the deceased actress from the former's residence on Tuesday.

The police, who acted based on the information mentioned in the letter, have found Jiah's medical report of abortion from a Juhu hospital.

"The pregnancy was not terminated through pills. We have sent summons to the doctor who performed the surgery as well as Jiah's friends who knew about it," Chhering Dorje, Deputy Commissioner of Police, told Indian Express.

The police also claimed that Sooraj Pancholi had confessed to physically abusing the actress eight months ago.

Meanwhile, the Pancholi family has claimed that Sooraj has been framed.

Sooraj's mother Zarina Wahab said Jiah was "using" her son and was trying to "wreck" his professional life, reported India TV. She went on to allege that Rabiya was trying to "frame" her son and questioned the authenticity of Jiah's six-page note besides pointing out that the language used in the letter indicated the emotional and vulnerable state of the actress.

Meanwhile, Andheri magistrate court on Thursday rejected police's plea to extend Sooraj's custody by three days and remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days. The police argued that they need more time to interrogate him following the recovery of letters found at his residence.

Sooraj's lawyer has filed a bail application after the court rejected custody plea by the police. The next hearing of the case will take place on Friday.
