Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza is essentially a roast, but the creative team has toned it down after celebrities refused to actively participate in the gags. However, Ranveer Singh doesn't come across as someone who doesn't enjoy self-deprecating humour. But, this time he has refused to appear on the show.
Reacting to the news, comedian-actor Krushna Abhishek told DNA that he is surprised that Singh has refused to appear on CNBT. "At that time we were following the roast format! Ranveer loves Bharti (Singh) and me and he has so much energy, he is ideal for a show like ours. In fact, the episode with him is one of our best so far. So, I am surprised at Ranveer's refusal to come on CNBT. Especially, since we have mellowed it down to such an extent that the roast is almost non-existent," he told the daily.
Abhishek also said that the jokes have been toned down quite a bit. These days, every celebrity is briefed before the show begins and in case they do not approve of the content, it is either dropped or watered down. "Earlier also, we would give them an idea, but not tell them about the punches. All that has changed now. It's like Comedy Circus where we perform gags followed by a little masti and leg-pulling," he added.
He revealed that talks are on to get Shah Rukh Khan to promote Raees on the show. Khan might just agree because the last time he was there, the CNBT was quite mellow and didn't crack harsh jokes on him.
