Shah Rukh Khan is getting all geared up for the promotions of his upcoming film "Happy New Year". Three big budget movies of the three Khans of Bollywood – Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir -are releasing in the third and the fourth quarter of the year.
Salman's "Kick" will release in July, Shah Rukh's "Happy New Year" during Diwali and Aamir's "P.K" in December. All the three superstars want their movie to be the biggest hit of 2014, but SRK is leaving no stone unturned for his film.
The 48-year-old actor has planned some extravagant promotional strategies for "Happy New Year" and for that he has asked his co-stars to keep two months free.
"Shah Rukh has asked all of us to keep two months, August and September completely free of all other engagements. None of us is allowed to shoot for any film during those two months," a fellow actor of the film told DNA.
Shah Rukh is known for unique marketing and promotional strategies. Most of the actors start the promotions of their film a month before its release, but SRK plans two three months long promotions.
Even for his last film "Chennai Express" he planned for an extraordinary promotional strategy. However, this time the actor has planned something different for "Happy New Year".
For the first time, the actor has planned for road shows with his co-stars and directors to promote his film in the US and Canada.
"We don't know what we will be required to do at these shows. But Shah Rukh will be taking all of us from the cast of Happy New Year to the streets in various cities of the US and Canada where we will be performing and interacting with fans. We expect crowds of thousands on the streets as Shah Rukh has a huge fan base in that part of the world."
Last year, only Shah Rukh and Aamir's films were released which created several records. "Chennai Express" released during Eid became the highest grosser film until the release of Aamir's "Dhoom 3" in December.
So this year, the actor is leaving no-stone unturned to make it a big event not only in India, but also in the overseas markets.
"For Shah Rukh the success if Happy New Year is very important. He wants it to be bigger than Kick and PK. We all have been told to think of nothing else for the two months leading up to the release," the fellow actor said.
