It looks like the makers of Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan's "Raees" have ditched the traditional way and the film will be one of the longest films of this year. Rumour has it that the Shah Rukh-starrer will be longer than expected.

According to reports, after the first edit, the length of Shah Rukh's film is three-and-a-half hours and the team is yet to finish shooting of the film. But, the makers will work on the first edit and will trim it down to two-and-a-half hours, Spotboye.com reports.

Shah Rukh will reportedly get involved in the final project along with director Rahul and co-producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The makers will also work on the song sequences to keep their film short and crisp.

"Perhaps the songs will be tightened since every moment in the film is riveting and the tempo is fast," Spotboye.com quoted a source as saying.

This is not the first time a Shah Rukh-starrer's length has gone beyond three hours. Yash Chopra's last directorial "Jab Tak Hai Jaan," starring Shah Rukh, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, was approximately 2-hour-56-minutes long. In 2014, Farah Khan's directorial "Happy New Year," starring SRK, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah, was 3-hour-4-minute long.

Meanwhile, "Raees" is one of the much-awaited movies of the year. The film, also featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, is slated to clash with Salman Khan's "Sultan" at the box office.
