Shah Rukh Khan has denied the news of his teaming up with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in a new film. The speculation was given weight by the frequent public interactions between the actor and the film maker. But now the superstar has said there are no such plans yet.
"There are no such plans as of now. He and I meet often and discuss plans as friends. I would like to work with him at one point of time but not now. I have already committed to Imtiaz Ali and Aanand L Rai after I finish my current commitments," he told Mid-Day.
Over the last week, there were reports stating that SRK would be romancing Deepika Padukone in Bhansali's next film, which will also feature Ranveer Singh. The director had dismissed the reports, branding them as "baseless speculations."
The films which SRK said he has committed himself to have interesting premises. While Imtiaz Ali's comedy-drama will see him play a turbaned Sikh tourist in the United Kingdom, Aanand's untitled next is about a "little person."
"SRK will be seen as a turbaned tourist in the UK. His innocent interactions with the Britishers and his adventurous return to India form the premise of the film," a source told Mumbai Mirror last month.
Talking about Aanand's project, script writer Himanshu Sharma said the "little person" (to be played by Shah Rukh) isn't the only focus of the film, and it features a romantic angle as well.
"You will be done with it in 30 seconds or may be 1 minute. How much can you dwell over that character? You have to come down to the main story and that's what I am fighting for. I hope I am able to write as good a film as I would like to see on screen. I am in the exploring phase right now," Catch News quoted Himanshu as saying.
For now, the 50-year-old actor has two films lined up for release. "Fan," the Maneesh Sharma directed venture, arrives in theatres April 15. Rahul Dholakia's "Raees" is out on Eid, and may clash with Salman Khan's "Sultan." Shah Rukh will also be seen in Gauri Shinde's film alongside Alia Bhatt.
