Shah Rukh Khan was in Chennai recently to promote his upcoming film "Happy New Year". King Khan's presence in the city got good coverage from the Tamil media but it was his comments on maverick filmmaker Shankar's new Tamil flick "I" which got more attention than the forthcoming Bollywood flick.
SRK, Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan were in the city as "Happy New Year" is set to light the screens around Diwali. While interacting with the media, Khan stated that he saw the trailer of the "I" and it stunned him.
The lavishness and quality of the Tamil film attracted the actor. He praised the technologies used in the flick and expressed his confidence over the success of the film.
Shankar's "I" stars Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles and is a romantic thriller. The film caught the nation's attention recently when Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger flew down to Chennai to be part of the project's audio launch function.
Khan and Shankar share a special friendship. The director was supposed to make his 2010 film "Endhiran - The Robot" with SRK and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. But unfortunately the duo parted ways over some creative differences, and the film went ahead with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead.
However, what had caught the industry's attention was that the two did not share any bitterness after the fallout. Infact, the title "The Robot" was registered by Khan's Red Chillies but the Bollywood icon gave it away to Shankar, even after their project was shelved.
Meanwhile, producer Aascar Ravichandran is getting ready for the audio launch function of "I" Hindi version. Like the Tamil version, he wants to make the Bollywood event a talk of the town. Hence, Ravichandran is expected to invite several big names from B-town, including Khan, for the music launch function.
