The subject of pay disparity between men and women in the Hindi film industry has always been one of the hot topics of discussion. Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and many others have spoken about the gender bias in pay which has existed in the industry for years. And now Shah Rukh Khan has given two cents on the much-debated topic and said that there should be no disparity in the industry.
"It's a male-dominated industry. You can't shirk it away or ignore it. I would love it to be different. There should be no disparity. A male actor and a female actor should get the same fees — why is it different, I don't know," Shah Rukh Khan said in an interview with ET.
He further added, "But I would also add that no actor — male or female — should over-estimate their performance. No individual — be it director or actor — should burden the film's expense by charging an amount that goes beyond the performance of the film's opening weekend."
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen playing a dwarf in director Aanand L Rai's upcoming film Zero which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. According to reports, the trailer of Zero will be unveiled on SRK's 53rd birthday on November 2. The movie is slated to release on December 21 this year.
