Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly asked the makers of "Raees" to change its release date in order to avoid clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer "Kaabil."
Latest reports suggest that the makers of "Kaabil" have refused to make any changes in its release date and hence SRK has decided to compromise on his part. Apparently, Shah Rukh is not willing to take any risks after his last two movies had failed to make the expected impact at the box office.
"He has no choice, really. He has seen what a clash can do when last November he insisted on brining his 'Dilwale' on the same Friday as 'Bajirao Mastani.' Considering that 'Raees' is a very unorthodox Shah Rukh film and that his last two films have underperformed seriously, Shah Rukh can afford no risks. He has asked Ritesh Sidhwani to move 'Raees' out of the January 26 slot," SKJ Bollywood News reported.
The report also quoted "Kaabil" producer Rakesh Roshan as confirming that the Hrithik starrer will be released on Jan. 26, 2017. Earlier, there were reports that SRK along with Sidhwani had visited Rakesh Roshan at his residence to discuss the box office clash of the two films.
The meeting reportedly had continued for five hours. Even Shah Rukh and Hrithik had confirmed earlier about the meeting. However, it looks like the discussion did not come out to be fruitful for Shah Rukh.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia, "Raees" was initially supposed to be released alongside Salman Khan's "Sultan." It was postponed to January 2017 to avoid clash with the big Salman starrer.
