Renowned Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan have been invited by Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha to remarry their wives as per Hindu rites on Valentine's Day (14 February). The remarriage of the cine stars will be part of the Hindu right-wing group's "Ghar Wapsi" programme.
"I have written a letter to these three film stars and invited them to attend the Ghar Wapsi function on February 14," said Munna Kumar Sharma, National general secretary of the mahasabha, Hindustan Times reported.
When asked if the stars, who usually have a packed schedule, will accept the invitation, he quickly said, "If Aamir loves his wife Kiran Rao, Saif loves Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh loves his wife Gauri Chhibber, they must convert to Hinduism."
President of the group Chandra Prakash Kaushik said on Valentine's Day, also tagged as "Prem Vivaah Divas", the "Ghar Wapsi" of the Muslim/Christian partners will be done an hour ahead of the wedding.
"At least eight of the planned marriages are inter-religious. We are giving them all support so that they get convinced to embrace Hinduism. All these years we let go of our boys and girls who fell in love with people from other religions. We have to start looking at it differently now," The Economic Times quoted him as saying.
In other news, SRK and Gauri have been married for almost 24 years now and the superstar has had interesting things to say about the religion. Talking to Gulf News, the superstar said last year that humanity is religion.
"Sometimes they ask me what religion they (children) belong to and, like a good Hindi movie hero, I roll my eyes up to the sky and declare philosophically, 'You are an Indian first and your religion is humanity,'" he said.
