Vikas Bahl's directorial film "Shaandaar" (Shandaar) had a disappointing opening weekend (four-day) box office collection.
"Shaandaar" (Shandaar) had a good opening day box office collection, but the earnings started to fall second day onwards. After recording a Rs 7.55 crore income on the second day, the collection dropped to Rs 6.75 crore on Saturday and on Sunday it witnessed further drop.
Despite being a holiday, the film minted Rs 6.11 crore on Sunday. The opening weekend box office collection of Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer is Rs 33.51 crore, which is disappointing.
"#Shaandaar is a FIASCO. Biz continued to dwindle, with Sat and Sun offering no respite. The film has been rejected... contd," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"#Shaandaar Thu 13.10 cr [holiday], Fri 7.55 cr, Sat 6.75 cr, Sun 6.11 cr. Total: ₹ 33.51 cr. India biz. DISAPPOINTING!" he added.
"Shaandaar" (Shandaar) was expected to have a fabulous opening and debut weekend collection, but the storyline and negative reviews from the critics hampered its earnings.
After a disappointing first weekend, the film needs to do decent business during weekdays to survive at the box office.
But on a good note, the film has shattered the lifetime records of movies like "Jazbaa", "All Is Well and others with its opening weekend box office collection.
Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also features Pankaj Kapoor, Sanah Kapoor, Sushma Seth, Niki Aneja Walia and Sanjay Kapoor among others.
