Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer "Shaandaar" (Shandaar) second day collection took a nose-dive at the box office. The romantic film witnessed a drop of 42% on the second day.
The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, earned Rs 13.10 crore on the opening day, and the 42% drop took its second day box office income to Rs 7.55 crore.
"Shaandaar grosses 7.55 cr net on Friday - Day 2. Total in 2 days stands @ 20.65 cr," Fox Star Hindi tweeted the box office figure.
"Shaandaar" (Shandaar) had a good opening at the box office because of Dusshera holiday across the country, but the drop in the collection on the second day is huge.
The film, which had a great hype and good release date (holiday release), failed to turn the buzz into decent box office numbers.
"Big drop in collections of #Shaandaar on day 2. Rejected by the public," trade analyst Komal Nahta tweeted.
And now, since the reviews are mixed to negative, the film has very little chances of having a decent opening weekend box office collection. "Shaandaar" (Shandaar) was expected to have an opening weekend box office collection of approximately Rs 50 crore, but now it looks like that the film will earn just Rs 35+ crore.
Looking at the positives, the opening weekend box office collection of "Shaandaar" will be higher than several big-budget movies released this year. Also, the film managed to break the first day records of Akshay Kumar's movies "Baby" and "Gabbar Is Back" and Ranbir Kapoor's "Roy".
Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also features Pankaj Kapoor, Sanah Kapoor, Sushma Seth, Niki Aneja Walia and Sanjay Kapoor among others.
