An American Airlines, en route from Seoul to Dallas, faced an unexpected mid-air turbulence on Tuesday morning reportedly injuring 14 passengers and crew members, of which five, including one crew member, are seriously injured.

The flight was soon diverted to Narita, Japan, after the winter storm shook the cabin and injured the passengers.

The plane was a Boeing 777, carrying 240 passengers and 15 crew members, according to American Airlines.

One of the passengers, Marc R. Stanley posted some inside pictures of the ill-fated flight on his Facebook account.

"Not a particularly enjoyable flight from Seoul to DFW today. Hit insane turbulence for almost an hour and had to turn back and go to Narita due to significant passenger and crew injuries and alleged damage to the plane. One flight attendant took out an exit sign. High marks to crew. Low marks to AA weather folks," Stanley posted.
