Serena Williams exit from this year's grand slam tournament has given rise to her pregnancy news. Serena, five-time Wimbledon singles champion, is reportedly pregnant with her coach's baby, a German tabloid Bild reported.
The tennis star withdrew from her doubles match on Tuesday with her sister Venus Williams as she had a bug which forced her to withdraw from the match.
"I am heartbroken I'm not able to continue in the tournament," Serena said in a statement. "I thought I could rally this morning because I really wanted to compete, but this bug just got the best of me."
While Serena insists that she exited because of a bug, tabloids claim that it is much more than that.
The 32-year-old tennis star is pregnant and that her French coach Patrick Mouratoglou is the father. In London, word is that Serena was impregnated by her coach," an insider told Bild.
Serena and Mouratoglou have been dating for the last 10 months, Inquisitr reported. The duo were also snapped walking hand in hand in Paris earlier this year, which added fuel to their dating rumors.
In an interview with USA Today, nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova said that she doesn't believe Serena's 'viral sickness' or 'bug' is the reason behind her exit from the match.
"I find it distressing. I think virus, whatever they're saying it was, I don't think that was it. I think it's clear that's not the case. I don't know what it is, but I hope Serena will be OK," Navratilova said.
"I've never seen anything like it and hopefully never will again. Everybody was put in such a difficult position, including the WTA. It's not right. It defies logic on so many fronts. The coach said he hadn't seen her for two days. He didn't know anything. How can you be a coach and not know anything? That's wrong. And Venus was just kind of there. You don't know what's going on, but virus was not it, that much is clear," she added.
Meanwhile, Serena took to Twitter to thank her fans for supporting her.
I love you. Thank you for all the support. Words cannot express how much I love my fans and friends, and family. Yours always. Xxx S
