Allari Naresh's much-hyped film "Selfie Raja," which hit the screens on July 15, has concluded the first weekend with a decent collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office.
Allari Naresh scored a big hit with "Sudigadu" in 2012. Post this film, the actor had nine movie releases in the next four years, but all of them bombed at the box office. The promos of his latest film "Selfie Raja," which impressed the audience, generated a hope that the film might beat the records of "Sudigadu." The hype surrounding it helped the movie register good advance booking.
Trade experts predicted that "Selfie Raja" would get a good start at the ticket counters. As predicted, the Allari Naresh-starrer witnessed decent footfalls in the theatres on its opening day. The movie was estimated to have collected over Rs. 1.55 crore gross at the AP/T box office on the first day. It earned approximately Rs. 1.17 crore for its distributors.
The G Eshwer Reddy-directed romantic comedy film received mixed talks from both the audience and critics. Trade pandits predicted that the negative word of mouth would take a toll on Saturday and Sunday. Surprisingly, "Selfie Raja" maintained rock-steady at the ticket counters over the weekend and made a decent business at the box office.
"Selfie Raja" is estimated to have collected over Rs. 3.90 crore at the AP/T box office in the first weekend. The movie has earned approximately Rs. 3 crore for the distributors in the states. The producers are thrilled over its performances at the ticket counters in the opening weekend.
Producer Chalasani Ramabrahmam Chowdary, who has bankrolled "Selfie Raja," has reportedly shelled out Rs 4.5 crore on its production and promotion. The film is estimated to have more than Rs. 1.7 crore from the sale of its satellite rights. Though the price of its theatrical right is not yet known, the distributors of all the regions are happy with its performance in its opening weekend.
