Year 2015 has a long list of high-budget films in different genres including remakes, sequels, detectives, period drama and others.
While some big-budget films have already released and scored high in box office, the second quarter of the year (April to June) has some highly anticipated multi-starrer films lined up for release.
In April, some films like "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy", "Ek Paheli Leela", "Dharam Sankat Mein" made a decent business in the box office, however, in the coming months, some of the much awaited films are set to hit the theatres.
'Gabbar is Back' (releasing 1 May): Akshay Kumar plays the title role as Gabbar. The "Khiladi" actor will be seen dealing with the serious issue of corruption with an aim to make the nation corruption-free. "Gabbar Is Back", is the remake of Telugu film "Ramanaa" (2002) and stars Shruti Haasan in female lead role.
'Piku' (releasing 8 May): Starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan, "Piku" explores the heart-warming relationship of a Bengali father and his daughter. While Deepika plays the title role of Piku, Big Big is her cranky father.
'Bombay Velvet' (releasing 15 May): Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, the film narrates the story of a street fighter Johnny Balraj and the transformation of the Bombay city into becoming one of the biggest cities in the country. "Bombay Velvet" marks the acting debut of filmmaker Karan Johar in a negative role.
'Welcome to Karachi' (releasing 21 May): The comedy flick has Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani in lead role. The story revolves around the actors and how they mistakenly land in Karachi while travelling on a boat from India.
'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' (releasing 22 May): The film is a sequel to 2011 hit film "Tanu Weds Manu" with the same star cast Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan. The sequel has Kangana in a double role as Tanuja "Tanu" Trivedi and Kusum "Datto" Sangwan.
'Dil Dhadakne Do' (releasing 5 June): This Zoya Akhtar's film has made fans frenzy ever since the first look and posters were unveiled. Starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Chopra, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah, the film revolves around a dysfunctional family on a cruise trip and in the course of their vacation, they discover love and friendship.
'Hamari Adhuri Kahaani' (releasing 12 June): Starring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi, the film is an intense love story. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mahesh Bhatt, the film will bring back "The Dirty Picture" lead couple and will see them romancing yet again.
'ABCD 2' (releasing 19 June): "ABCD 2" is a sequel to Remo d'Souza's dance film "ABCD" and will see the lead actor Varun Dhawan play the character of a waiter while Shraddha Kapoor will be seen portraying a hairdresser. The film also features ace dancers Prabhu Deva, Salman Yusuff Khan, Lauren Gottlieb and Punit Pathak.
