Kozhikode, Aug 13 (ANI): Young athlete from Kerala, Tintu Luka, has been nominated for Arjuna Award for outstanding achievements in sports. A selection committee led by former cricket captain Kapil Dev recommended Luka and 14 others for India's second highest sports prize that is given by the sports ministry. 25-year-old Luka is the youngest among all the sportspersons nominated for the award and is a national record holder in the women's 800-metre race. Luka said that winning Arjuna Award is a dream of any sportsperson and expressed her pride and happiness on being nominated. Aug 13, 2014

Nainital, Aug 13 (ANI): A fruit processing unit in hill town of Nainital in Uttarakhand has become a popular name by producing a variety of products from apples and savouring the taste buds. The owner of 'Fruitage', Sanjeev Bhagat said that for the past 20 years the fruit processing unit has been producing a great variety of pickles, juices, squash, jams, chutney and sweet jam pickles 'murabbaa' from as many as 20 variety of apples, which are liked by people across the nation. The unit is primarily run by women workers, who are involved in multiple tasks, right from peeling the apples to boiling them, sweetening them, making different products out of them and packaging as well. The unit is also known for providing employment opportunities to women. The products made out of apples at the fruit processing unit are gaining popularity among tourists as well. Aug 13, 2014

Sushma Swaraj launches website to track information on death of nationals overseas

New Delhi, Aug 12 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, launched a website to facilitate exchange of updated information on the status of return of bodies of citizens to the country in case of death overseas.Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi on Tuesday, Swaraj said relatives in India have to face a lot of inconvenience due to lack of information if their loved ones, living in other countries, die due to some reason. She said that they are usually unaware on when the bodies will return and approach her inquiring about the same. In a bid to facilitate an easy flow of information between the missions abroad and kin over tracking bodies, the foreign ministry came up with the idea. The website has been created by Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) and will be taken forward by the foreign ministry. Aug 12, 2014

Coimbatore, Aug 12 (ANI): Several days ahead of the 68th Independence Day celebrations in India, the national flag business booms in Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu. Over two lakh cotton flags were produced in the state last year and this year in wake of the new government, the Indian flag manufacturers have produced over three lakh tri coloured flags. The flag printers in Coimbatore claim that they produce around 5000 flags daily and this year they are working day and night and hence their labour also has doubled. Chennai, Aug 11 (ANI): Doctor discharged a Guinea returned native of Chennai in Tamil Nadu on finding him unaffected with Ebola virus. The 26-year-old Parthiban from Theni district was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi(RG) Government General Hospital immediately after he landed from the West African country. Regional Medical Officer at RG General Hospital Dr. Elango, confirmed that he has been allowed to return to his home town as the test results on his immunity showed no signs of infection. The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Ministries of Home Affairs (immigration Department), External Affairs and Civil Aviation, is constantly tracking passengers arriving in India from the West African countries affected by Ebola.
