New images have emerged from the doomed flight carrying the Brazilian soccer side Chapecoense before it took off and crashed, killing 71 of the 77 people on board. Before the crash occurred the captain had reportedly radioed to say that he was running out of fuel in an emergency. Before takeoff the team and crew on the Bolivian charter plane were in good spirits. Chapecoense plane crash: Pilot’s last words reveal plane ran out of fuel during emergency landing attempt

Cockpit audio from the doomed LAMIA flight that crashed in Colombia on 28 November has revealed that the pilot knew he was running out of fuel. He had contacted the control tower at José María Córdova International Airport to request an emergency landing. The plane crashed into a mountain near the city of Medellin, killing nearly all on-board. Among the victims were members of Brazilian football team Chapecoense, as well as crew and journalists. A Holocaust survivors plea to the people of Austria has gone viral ahead of the countrys presidential election. Gertrude, known only by her first name, has appealed to Austrians not to allow the far-right Freedom Party to gain power. In the video published on Facebook she says that the actions of the Freedom Party and its candidate Norbert Hofer are similar to that of the Nazis in Austria and Germany in the 1930s. It’s the humiliation of others, the demonisation of others, that alarms me the most. And that was the case once before, she said. A hostel has been set up to recreate the conditions of those trapped inside the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian war. The hostel is run by a family who survived the three-year-long siege and hope to educate guests about their experience.
