British law minister says India must open up its legal sector

New Delhi, Sept 02 (ANI): British law minister Shailesh Vara, who arrived in New Delhi for his three-day visit said India must open up its legal sector. The United Kingdom's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Minister for the Courts and Legal Aid at the Ministry of Justice, Vara, will also be visiting Ahmedabad. His visit is the latest in a series of senior British government visitors to India to further strengthen the bilateral relationship with the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interacting with mediapersons in New Delhi, he added the United Kingdom and India have very strong links on trade, education and legal front. Vara said with Modi's initiative to allow foreign companies to invest in India, overseas lawyers must also be allowed to practice in India. New Motor Vehicle Bill to be discussed in next parliament session: Gadkari

New Delhi, Sep 01 (ANI): Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways would initiate discussion on new Motor Vehicle Bill in the next session of the parliament. While addressing a gathering of mediapersons in New Delhi, Gadkari stressed upon the need to study the transport laws in developed countries and incorporate essential elements in the new Bill. Highlighting the fact that 64 percent of road accidents take place on state and national highways, Gadkari added it is the primary responsibility of the government to set up research think tanks and also rope in polytechnic institutes to prepare detailed project reports in order to study big and small problems in detail and address all of them to work out a solution. Union Home Ministry reviews the security situation at Assam-Nagaland Border

Guwahati, Sep 01 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, who was in Guwahati to attend a meeting with the Chief Ministers of 8 Northeastern states, reviewed the security situation on Assam-Nagaland Border. He held talks with Assam and Nagaland Chief Ministers on the escalating border violence. Meanwhile, a curfew has been imposed in Golaghat following the clashes between the police and protestors. The Army also held a flag march in the violence hit areas to bring the situation under control. In addition to three companies of CRPF, 1,000 paramilitary personnel have been deployed and security pickets have been set up in the affected villages.
