Jammu and Kashmir finance minister meets PM Modi over steps to overcome flood impact in state

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed over steps to overcome the impact of flood situation in the state. Rather said that he requested the prime minister to declare it as a national disaster and give relaxation to the policies for fast relief of people. He said that he has asked PM to look at the issues like housing, employment, essential products and restoration of public buildings among many others to overcome the loss to the state. He further lauded the defense and NDRF personnel for their rescue efforts in the flood-hit state. He also laid stress upon women security in police stations and said that more women shall be deployed as officers. Jitendra Singh visits JandK to take stock of rescue operations

Srinagar, Sep 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent Minister of state for Personnel, Jitendra Singh to take stock of the situation as rescue work gains momentum in flooded Kashmir after waters have started receding, giving rescue teams a chance to reach tens of thousands of villagers stranded by the heaviest rainfall in half a century. Singh visited the region a day after Modi directed the home ministry to provide full assistance to Jammu and Kashmir government and coordinate in rescue and relief operations being carried out in the flood-hit state. Indian Army official General Subrata Saha said that defence forces and National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) teams are working together in relief and rescue operations.
