New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): The Minister for Mines, Steel, Labour and Employment, Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday handed over cheques worth Rs 15 crore to PM Narendra Modi for the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The amount has been donated by Public Sector Undertakings from the Steel and Mining sectors. India, Vietnam Sign Seven Agreements

Vietnam, Sep 16 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee and Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang witnessed the signing of seven agreements and memorandums in Hanoi, including one made by Petro Vietnam and India's Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Videsh. India and Vietnam have deepened military cooperation over the past decade and under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is pushing ahead with a new strategy to establish itself as an arms exporter using export credits to leverage foreign sales. Addressing the news conference, Secretary (East) Ministry of External Affairs, Anil Wadhwa, emphasized on the need to step up people to people exchanges between the two nations. Backlogs regarding development of northeast will be cleared: VK Singh

New Delhi, Sept 16 (ANI): Minister for Development of Northeast Region, General Vijay Kumar Singh, said that development of the northeast region was a concern. Addressing a news conference in New Delhi, General Singh said development takes time and his ministry was reviewing the development projects operational in the region. The ministry is planning to establish national skill development council and calling in experts to provide skill development in northeast. Meanwhile, the minister said the Northeast Councils (NECs) could play a vital role in pushing the developmental model. Unemployed youth avail benefits of skill development training in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 15 (ANI): Some 30 unemployed youth are currently undergoing training and designing at the Apparel Training and Designing Centre at Porampat in Imphal East. Launched recently by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, the centre has latest machinery to provide training in garment making. Ministry of Textiles runs ATDC centres across the country whose popularity has reached manifold in the northeast. As of now some 300 youth have taken advantage of these centres in Manipur after the launch in 2013. Apart from basic 2-month course, the Centre provides advanced courses, which includes pattern making and embroidery. The training not only helps unemployed people improve their socio-economic standards but also boosts their self-esteem and confidence.
