Mixed reactions flow over Modi's maiden visit to Bhutan

New Delhi, June 15 (ANI): Political leaders on Sunday reacted over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden foreign visit to Bhutan. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that Bhutan is a friendly nation which always supported India and thus Modi's decision to choose Bhutan was a wise one. Congress leader Rashid Alvi stated Modi should first concentrate on national issues and then move to foreign ones. Experts in India endorse Modi's Bhutan visit

New Delhi, June 14 (ANI): Experts opined on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first foreign visit to Bhutan is a sign that he wants to strengthen relationships with its neighbouring countries. Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval and senior officials would also accompany the Prime Minister for the visit on June 15 and 16. 700 cadets pass out from Indian Military Academy

Dehradun, June 14 (ANI): A total of 700 cadets passed out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Saturday of which 636 joined the Indian Army while the remaining were foreign cadets. The foreign cadets are from Bhutan, Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan. After the passing out parade, the 636 cadets got their lieutenant's pips. The maximum number of new officers belong to Uttar Pradesh (121) followed by Haryana (62) and Uttarakhand (57). Kudankulam anti-nuke federation rubbishes IBs allegation of Greenpeace stalling development

Chennai, June 13 (ANI): People's movement against nuclear energy, Kudankulam anti-nuke federation, slammed the Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) for leveling foreign funding allegations in its report submitted to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The IB, in its report on June 03, has described the Greenpeace, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), as 'a threat to national economic security' and has claimed that there could be negative implications of the NGOs' role on GDP growth ranging from 2-3 per cent per annum. The report said that foreign funded NGOs negatively impact economic development in the country, while citing activities ranging from protests against nuclear and coal plants and funding of sympathetic research. Speaking in Chennai, Convener of Kudankulam anti-nuke federation, G. Search still on for kidnapped Chinese cyclist: Pak Foreign

Islamabad, June 12 (ANI): Pakistan said on Thursday that the search was still on for a Chinese tourist on a cycling tour of the country, kidnapped by the Taliban last month. The man was kidnapped on May 19 in Daraban, near the western city of Dera Ismail Khan. Abdullah Bahar, a senior Taliban commander, said the man was in their custody.
