TV viewers could soon change service provider without switching set-top box

New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the ministry is working towards bringing a service for the TV viewers wherein they can change the service providers without switching their set-top boxes. After chairing the first meeting of the Task Force for Cable Digitization for phases three and four, Javadekar said that the viewers should get the benefits of digitalization, with high quality picture at affordable prices. Villagers along Indo-Pak border live under fear as Pak continues fire killing and injuring civilians

Akhnoor/ Flora/ New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged fire in the disputed Kashmir region on Tuesday and four Indian civilians were wounded, a day after the highest civilian death toll in a single day from their cross-border conflict in more than a decade. Director General of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), DK Pathak said that Pakistan forces fired at 40 Indian army posts early on Tuesday. The two sides have been trading fire and counter-accusations since the violence erupted last week. Meanwhile, people living along the de-facto border were living in fear due to continuous firing. Pakistan's foreign ministry said it had lodged a protest with Indian diplomats over the killings of its civilians. New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Effectively fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's announcement on consular and visa issues during his address at the Madison Square Garden in New York City last month, all Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards are now valid for the lifetime of the cardholder, instead of 15 years, according to a Gazette notification issued on September 30th, 2014. Following Prime Minister Modi's announcement that PIO cardholders would be exempt from police reporting, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued instructions through the same Gazette notification dated September 30th, that PIO cardholders would not be required to report to a police station even if their visit to India exceeds 180 days. Swiftly implementing all the announcements made by Prime Minister Modi, instructions have been issued to Embassies and Consulates that unless there are exceptional circumstances, visas to US nationals should normally be given for 10 years. Skill development programmes help to generate employment for Kashmiri youth

Kathua, Oct 7 (ANI): Unemployed Kashmiri youth are being imparted with various technical trainings in a bid to explore their livelihood opportunities. 12 skill development programmes are running with as many as 100 unemployed youths being part of it. Project Officer, District Urban Development Agency, Zaffar Abbaz said that training to youths is being given by professionals in technical courses like welding, electronics, cutting tailoring, fashion designing and on computers, for a period of six months to one year. These training programmes are of free of cost and not just boys but even girls' participation was seen in large numbers. The youths who had completed six months training were also given multi-purpose tool kits and even a diploma. Titled as "YOUth Decide: Exchanging opportunities in North India and North East India: Education-Employment-Entertainment', the youth dialogue programme was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce with support from the Home Ministry, University express ,and several northeast organizations. The event witnessed the participation of northeast and north Indian students from colleges and youth organizations from different parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).
