Electric rickshaw owners to get clearances soon, says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Oct 20 (ANI): India's Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday assured that electric rickshaw owners would be able to get clearances soon for their vehicles. Earlier this month, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways brought out the much awaited notification on electric rickshaws, also known as e-rickshaws. According to the notification, the conditions which are necessary for e-rickshaws to be able to ply on Delhi roads include a driving licence, a registration number like that of any other vehicle, vehicle insurance and the approval of the concerned e-rickshaw model by the government. The notification came as a reversal of a ban on e-rickshaws by the Delhi High Court on July 31, citing them as a hazard. It had also stated the ban would continue till the rules and regulations for them are outlined by the India's Road Transport Ministry. Gadkari, who met Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday and other authorities to fine tune the process, said minor technicalities have been smoothened out. Oct 20, 2014

Congress stage protest against state govt over rise in dengue cases in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Oct 17 (ANI): Workers of Congress party on Friday protested against the government of Madhya Pradesh for they say it has failed to curb the rising cases of dengue in the state. Reportedly, central city of Bhopal is in the grip of the worst dengue outbreak it has seen in the last five years. The total dengue cases reported in Bhopal is 343 of which 23 cases were registered on Thursday. The six major cases are from Kolar area. The District President of Congress party, PC Sharma said they demand immediate treatment for the patients. PM Modi meets top military officers at Combined Commanders' Conference

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met top military officers at the defence ministry War Room at a time when tension continues along the border with both China and Pakistan. The Combined Commanders' Conference is the first meeting of the prime minister with all top commanders, including the three service chiefs. The three service chiefs are expected to give elaborate presentations to the prime minister on the security scenario. The Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, will make the first presentation, followed by the Indian Navy Chief Admiral RK Dhowan and the Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh. The prime minister and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley will address the conference.
