Pak observes 'mourning day' as families of deceased MQM workers perform last rites

Karachi, May 03 (ANI): Pakistan's biggest city Karachi came to a standstill on Friday after Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called for a day of mourning after four bodies were recovered from the city three days earlier were identified as those of its activists. MQM said all four workers were picked up on April 13 by the law-enforcement personnel from Gulshan-e-Maymar area in the city. The paramilitary Rangers and police, who are currently conducting a joint operation in Karachi against the criminals, deny the allegations. Meanwhile, more than two thousand party activists, supporters and relatives of the victims offered funeral prayers for two of the slain workers of MQM. The other two were buried on Thursday night. The MQM which represents Urdu speakers, is the second largest party in Sindh and dominates the country's financial capital Karachi. May 3, 2014

Mumbai, May 2 (ANI): As a lead up to International Dance day, Bollywood choreographer, Sandip Soparkarr, organised a Dance Week and invited all dance lovers and enthusiasts to show some moves and grooves, in India's entertainment capital, Mumbai. The week- long celebrations prior to International Dance Day celebrated on April 29 every year culminated with some special performances by Bollywood celebs. The organiser of the event, Bollywood choreographer, Sandip Soparrkar, said that the event was the first of its kind in the country. Each day was dedicated to one form of dance; there were shows, competitions, interactive sessions and performances. From folk dance to classical dances like Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi and the Classic Russian Ballet, Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Funk dances, one can celebrate everything. Veteran Bollywood choreographer, Saroj Khan, who inaugurated the event said that such events give a boost to art forms like dance and she was happy to be a part of it. Rajeev Khandelwal promotes 'Samrat & Co.' in Mumbai

Mumbai, April 29 (ANI): The actors of Bollywood movie 'Samrat & Co' which is reportedly this year's first detective film promoted the movie at India’s showbiz capital, Mumbai in a bid to spread ‘word of mouth’. Bollywood actor Rajeev Khandelwal who plays the lead in the movie said that they are banking on ‘word of mouth’ as a promotional stunt since the movie is not a big banner release. The film has been produced by debutant Kavita Barjatya under her family banner Rajshri Productions. The film casts a newcomer Madalasa Sharma opposite Khandelwal who was all praise for her co star in the movie. The film has been directed by director Kaushik Ghatak. Regional leaders in Tamil Nadu pay tribute to Major Mukund Vardarajan killed in Shopian

Chennai, April 28 (ANI): The Tamil Nadu government and the regional Congress leaders on Monday paid homage to one of the security personnel, Major Mukund Vardarajan at his Chennai residence. Major Mukund Vardarajan and sepoy Vikram Singh were killed by militants during an overnight gun battle that started Friday in Shopian, which is 55 kilometres away from Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar. Senior Congress leader E V K S Elangovan said fighting militancy is the biggest challenge in front of the country. Both the security personnel are survived by their wives and children. Acting on a tip-off about a militant hideout, security forces launched the search operation to flush them out. The militants were reportedly asked to surrender but they resorted to firing, triggering the gunfight. Apr 28, 2014
