New Delhi, Nov 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of work towards achievement of targets in the connectivity-related infrastructure sectors of roads, railways, shipping and civil aviation. Talking about the Sagarmala project PM Modi said that the project must lay stress on 'port-led development'. PM during the meeting emphasized on the need for faster inter-ministerial coordination and resolution of issues. Threat of cyclone Hudhud halts train services in eastern coast

Visakhapatnam, Oct 11 (ANI): Indian Railways cancelled trains in the eastern coast on Saturday as Cyclone Hudhud approaches with the threat of widespread damage. Thirty seven trains originating from port city Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneshwar or going through either of them, were cancelled for Sunday, when the cyclone is set to hit. Thirty one trains will be diverted through other states. Cyclone Hudhud was about 470 km offshore on Friday, satellite images showed, and was expected to hit land around the key port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning. It will also impact the neighbouring Odisha. Passengers are now scared to board trains. Help lines have been set up at various railway stations and emergency and controlling staff have been deployed to meet any contingency. The railways will also coordinate with the State Government and National Disaster Relief Force, if need be. The railways have also guaranteed speedy refunds for passengers whose trains have been cancelled or diverted. Oct 11, 2014

Ahmedabad, Oct 08 (ANI): As a part of recently launched 'Clean India Mission', railway authorities in Gujarat introduced hi-tech plastic bottle crushers where the plastic can be recycled and used again. In a bid to keep railway stations clean and recycle used plastic bottles, railway authorities in Ahmedabad installed the bottle crusher machine at a station. A ward assistant of Western Railways, Atul Tripathi, said this was the first time in India that such an initiative was undertaken. If proven a success, it would be further taken to other cities. Health and Family welfare minister Dr Harsh Vardhan along with Railways Minister DV Sadananda Gowda participated in the cleanliness drive which was held at the New Delhi railway station. Later Dr Harsh Vardhan also wiped the floors in Lady Hardinge Hospital.
