Pak performs border flag ceremony even as India cancels it in wake of Wagah border blast

Attari, Nov 04 (ANI): India cancelled while Pakistan performed the retreat ceremony at Wagah border on after a suicide attack killed almost 60 people on the Pakistani side. India's home ministry had earlier said the daily flag-lowering ceremony would be suspended at Wagah-Attari border as a mark of respect for the dead - the first time the parade would have been called off since the two countries went to war in 1971. But later Pakistani officials changed their mind and deciding to go ahead with the ritual to send a message to the militants. Meanwhile, India- Pakistan cross border land trade was suspended in the wake of the suicide blast. Traders said they were hopeful that business between the two sides will be resumed soon. At least 60 people were killed and around 110 wounded when the explosion ripped through a car park about 500 metres (yards) from Pakistan's border gate just as hundreds of people left the daily flag-lowering ceremony. Congress party goes on hunger strike over Vyapam scam in Bhopal

Bhopal, Nov 01 (ANI): The Congress party went on a hunger strike on Saturday (November 01) against the Madhya Pradesh government for not providing proper details of the investigation into the employment scam that rocks the state. The Vyapam Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam (Employment scam) relates to admissions in medical and engineering colleges during the period 2008 to 2010 in which many government employees are under the scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Members of the Congress party wanted to hold the demonstration outside state Chief, Shivraj Singh Chouhan's official residence but were not given permission. New Delhi/Noida, Nov 1 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Saturday after the Election Commission asked the Home Ministry to explain its decision to give a fresh compensation of Rs five lakh to the victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots considering that the Model Code of Conduct is in force in Delhi because of the upcoming by-polls. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the government should give compensation to the victims of all the riots and politics should not be done in this issue. MEA clarifies on unwed mothers passport rules, says India don't stand for gender discrimination

New Delhi, Nov 01 (ANI): Foreign ministry denied media reports that an unwed mother would have to declare how she conceived while applying for her child's passport. MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said any single parent had to furnish only two documents - birth certificate of the child and affidavit before a magistrate.
