New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while speaking at the India Global Forum on Sunday said that the first priority of the defence ministry is to maintain best relations with the neighbours. He added that India needs peace across borders and hence meaningful dialogue with the neighbouring is essential. Capital gears up to host National Children's Film Festival

Mumbai, Nov 9 (ANI): The Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) announced to launch the National Children's Film Festival (NCFF) in a bid to expose youngsters to global cinema. CFSI is an autonomous body under India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, founded in 1955, which has been working towards promoting children's films across the globe. The three-day festival will kick start on November 14 at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, on the occasion of Children's Day celebrated to commemorate the birthday of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Films made in India or made by Indian filmmakers will be showcased in the festival. Kumar also said that another aim of this festival was to celebrate childhood through films. The theme for the inaugural edition of NCFF will be ‘Swachhta' (Cleanliness), falling in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) launched nationwide by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. The festival will also see various other workshops to be held for children including those for film making, dance and music. Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan have come forward to promote the festival. Nov 9, 2014

Mushroom cultivation gains popularity as an alternative farming option in the Northeast

Tripura, Nov 09 (ANI): Climatic conditions in India, especially the Northeastern region, are favourable for natural occurance of mushrooms. And, realizing the potential of this non-traditional cash-crop, many people in the region are shifting their attention towards mushroom cultivation. The Ministry of Rural Development runs a special scheme on mushroom farming, which motivates many farmers to adopt this alternative form of farming. Meet Nilotpal Sinha, a teacher turned entrepreneur who runs "Vivekananda Mushroom centre" at South Hurua in North Tripura. Started mushroom farming in 2003 in a small area, today his centre produces 6 kg of crop everyday. Sinha earns Rs. 25,000 to 30,000 in a month by producing milky and oyster mushrooms. Mushroom consumption in India is comparatively low, but 55 per cent of the households consume mushrooms in their daily diet. Nov 9, 2014

Srinagar, Nov 08 (ANI): A micro power project is under construction in Jammu and Kashmir to resolve the problems of electricity supply and generate employment for the locals. A private company is investing into power project in Baramulla district by mobilising water resources of the Kashmir valley, which after completion would generate 8 MW of electricity supply to the adjoining villages. The residents welcomed the project which would resolve problems of power outages. Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the temple town Varanasi, arrived on Friday morning, where he is likely to firm up plans for its development of the city. With an aim to develop and promote handloom products of Varanasi this Trade Facilitation Centre and Crafts Museum is being established.
