Modi says Varanasi endorsed even his 'silence'

Varanasi, May 18 (ANI): In spiritually charged atmosphere of the temple town of Varanasi, victorious BJP leader Narendra Modi said that he was indebted to people of the town for their love and support even when he was gagged and not allowed to speak to his electorate in the run up to polls. Modi reached the brightly-lit Dashashwamedh Ghat soon after darkness fell. Jostling his way through the enthusiastic crowd of supporters cheering 'NaMo NaMo', the leader reached the banks of Holy Ganges with party chief Rajnath Singh and his aide Amit Shah to participate in the famous Ganga Aarti, the Hindu ceremony of light. After performing all the rituals amidst priests blowing conch shells and ringing holy bells, the firebrand leader addressed the crowd and thanked them for their support. New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): After securing a handsome 337 majority win for the BJP-led NDA in the 2014 general elections, Narendra Modi will arrive in Delhi on Saturday morning to take part in a road show which will be more of a victory procession by him. Following which, he will attend a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board at the party headquarters in Lutyen's Delhi. The BJP has decided to use his journey from the Indira gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to the BJP headquarters as a victory procession. The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory asking commuters to avoid certain roads that fall on or around the route that the Modi roadshow will take and security has been tightened ahead of his arrival in the national capital. Shimla/Kushinagar/New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Devotees thronged monasteries and shrines across India on May 14, to participate in prayer rituals, religious processions and dance performances to commemorate the birth of Lord Buddha. Buddha's birth anniversary, or Vesak Day, is celebrated on various dates in the Spring season throughout the world. It is usually observed during the first full moon in May. Participating in the festivities in the northern hill town of Shimla, devotees gathered early in the morning at the monastery to offer their prayers after which they were treated to Traditional Tibetan and tribal Himachali dances. Hundreds of Tibetan monks, Indian Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Christians and devotees from various other religions gathered to participate.In northern Kushinagar, members of the Buddhist community organised a religious procession with enchanting decorated idols of Lord Buddha being carried on vehicles and chariots amid enthusiastic supporters.Meanwhile in the national capital too, devotees gathered in huge numbers to offer prayers and monks propagated the message of peace and harmony. Children of War premieres in New Delhi

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Debutante filmmaker Mrityunjay Devvrat’s masterpiece ‘Children of War’ was premiered at a grand event held in the National Capital New Delhi. BSE closes points 216.14 up on May 16

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 216.14 points up to stand at 24,102.52. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 79.85 points up to stand at 7,198.05. Indiabulls Real Estate and Sobha Dev were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 19.00% and 11.99% along with Punjab National Bank and Reliance Capital with an increase of 11.77% and 11.05% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Financial Technology and Tata Steel with a decrease of 5.00% and 4.68% along with Dabur India and Cadila Health with a decrease of 3.83% and 3.64% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 124.26 points at 14,230.62 while the banking sector is up 714.62 points at 16,994.36 and the realty sector is up 90.41 points at 1,605.57.
