Two Maoists surrender before BSF in Odisha

Malkangiri, Oct 03 (ANI): Two rebels working for Communist Party of India-Maoists surrendered before paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) in Odisha on Friday. It is an achievement for BSF which has been trying to tackle the Maoist insurgency in Malkangiri district of Odisha. The Maoists, who have been identified as Laxman Pujari and Chaitanya Harijan, surrendered before BSF Deputy Inspector General, KV Raghavacharyulu, at a surrender ceremony at the BSF sector headquarters. For the first time any Maoist has surrendered before BSF in Malkangiri. But the step was welcomed by Raghavacharyulu. Oct 3, 2014

Civilians injured, houses damaged as Pak rangers resort to unprovoked firing in J and K

Poonch, Oct 03 (ANI): Some civilians sustained injuries while some lost their houses as Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing on the Indian positions along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The entire Gagrian village in the Poonch sector was affected in the firing. According to the villagers of Gagrian, the firing continued till midnight and almost all civilians stayed awake all night. The injured were taken to the hospital immediately. Ahmed said the entire locality got strong tremors as bombs started falling on the village. Poonch, Oct 02 (ANI): At least six civilians were injured after Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian positions of de-facto border, Line of Control (LoC), in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The ceasefire violations by Pakistan were met with retaliation by India's paramilitary Border Security (BSF) Force. The injured were later taken ti a government hospital in Jammu district. Father of an injured person, Khalil Ahmed said people started fleeing after there was firing for a long period. Police kill Maoist in encounter in Chhattisgarh

Bijapur/ Malkangiri, Oct 02 (ANI): A Maoist was killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh while one was held in Odisha on Thursday. The Maoist named Kosa Ayatu, belonging to Maoist cultural front CNM, was killed in a police encounter where a police official was also injured. The deceased was carrying arms and ammunition. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, KL Dhruv said the Maoists had attacked the police helicopter during the encounter. Meanwhile, another rebel was arrested in Malkangiri district of Odisha during a joint operation by the personnel of India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) and the district police. Malkangiri's Superintendent of Police, Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said the Maoist identified as Singa Kattami alias Mahesh is a resident of Tagoorkota village and was arrested from Sudhakonda area. Reportedly, the youth was killed by the red rebels in Malkangiri district of the state as they suspected him of being a police informer.
