Lone tiger cub nursed by female dog in Indore zoo

Indore, Oct 5 (ANI): A lone tiger cub, which escaped death after her mother accidentally jabbed her teeth into its body, is now being given special care by the zoo authorities in Madhya Pradesh and being fed milk by a female dog after it was separated from the mother. Shivani, a white tigress at the zoo in Indore city, had given birth to four cubs last month after cross breeding with a yellow tiger, first such case in the country. However, three cubs died due to mishandling by the big cat. Meanwhile, Uttam Yadav, doctor at the zoo, said they did not want to send the lone surviving tiger cub to the mother as they feared that it might also be killed. In order to provide milk to the tiger cub, the zoo authorities carried on a small experiment where the tiger cub could be nursed by a female dog. Yadav said the dog named Jimmy now considers the tiger cub as her own child. Oct 5, 2014
