BSF exchanges Eid sweets with Bangladeshi counterparts

Siliguri/Agartala, Oct 6 (ANI): Troops of paramilitary Border security Force (BSF), stationed along the India-Bangladesh border, celebrated Eid al-Adha by exchanging sweets with security personnel of Bangladesh on Monday. BSF personnel posted at Phulbari border under Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal gifted a box of sweets to the members of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) as a step of goodwill and to enhance bilateral relations. The exchange of sweets between India and Bangladesh along the border in West Bengal is an old and traditional gesture to show goodwill between the two nations and has been in practice for many years now. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is considered one of the two most important occasions in the Islamic calendar, and marks the end of the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. Pak denies exchange of sweets with India, BSF says will protest against 'anti-harmony move'

Amritsar, Oct 06 (ANI): With tensions prevailing on the Indo-Pak border, Pakistan on Monday denied exchange of sweets with India on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. According to official sources, during a late evening flag meeting between the sector commanders of the BSF and Pakistan Rangers on Sunday, the other side refused to fix a proper time for the ceremony to be held today. BSF DIG MF Farooqui said that the force will launch a protest over the same and further actions or developments will take place accordingly. The exchange of sweets between the border guarding troops of the two countries is an old and traditional gesture between the two sides which is aimed to show goodwill and to maintain harmony on both sides. Arun Jaitley discharged from AIIMS

New Delhi, Oct 06 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has been discharged from the government-run AIIMS hospital in Delhi where he was admitted last week to recover from an infection that followed a stomach operation to treat diabetes. Jaitley, who doubles up as Defence Minister, was kept at an isolation ward at AIIMS. He was taken there after he had complained of respiratory problems following his stay in a private hospital where he was readmitted for post surgery check up. He had undergone diabetes management surgery on September 2. Meanwhile, talking about the series of ceasefire violation by Pakistani rangers along Indo- Pak border which killed at least four people, Jaitley said that India's Armed forces and paramilitary forces are fully ready and they are responding to each of the provocations effectively. New Delhi/ Arnia, Oct 06 (ANI): Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh warned Pakistan on Monday to stop ceasefire violations on the shared border in Kashmir saying that with the new government in power, the situation is no longer the same as it used to be earlier. At least four villagers were killed and around 30 injured as Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing of mortar bombs on the Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Singh said that Pakistan needed to understand that things have changed in India. BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, warned Pakistan to be careful. At least five killed and around 30 injured in ceasefire violation by Pak rangers along Indo-Pak bord

Arnia/ Jammu, Oct 06 (ANI): At least five people were killed and around 30 injured in firing from Pakistan at the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir after midnight on Sunday, in the worst attack on civilian areas in recent years. This ceasefire violation by the Pakistanis is the fourth day in a row. Two women and a 13-year-old girl were among those killed when Pakistan Rangers started firing at posts of the Border Security Force and villages in the Arnia sector of Jammu at around 1:30 am. Heavy mortar shelling was also reported even as intermittent firing continues at Arnia and RS Pura sectors. Villagers near the border are terrified and panic gripped the border villages.
