New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): US president Barack Obama has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to be the chief guest at Republic Day celebrations in January. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin said that a confirmation was received through diplomatic channel about Obama's visit to the country. Obama was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be the first U.S. president to attend a Republic Day celebration, which marks the enactment of India's constitution on January 26, 1950. J and K polls: Kashmiris expecting good governance and employment

Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 22 (ANI): People of Jammu and Kashmir hoped for good governance and redressal of issues from state government in upcoming assembly polls. The five-phase polls in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on November 25 and will end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23. Various political parties are holding rallies in the state in a bid to garner votes Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti also addressed rallies and met people in Bandipora district in a bid to gather support. Mufti said that valley needs a government that can improve the overall condition of the state with water, power supply, employment, good roads and hospitals, which her party promised to deliver. Islamabad, Nov 21 (ANI): Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take his own car to SAARC meeting in Nepal next week, the foreign ministry Spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said while in a briefing in Islamabad. Pakistan will transport Sharif's car hundreds of kilometres to Nepal's capital Kathmandu in the foothills of the Himalayas. Leaders from eight nations - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan - meet in Kathmandu for two days from November 26 for SAARC summit. Ramban, Nov 20 (ANI): BJP Chief Amit Shah reviewed the poll preparations in Jammu and Kashmir and urged people to vote against dynasty politics to maintain the valley's integrity. Shah hit out at the opposition, Congress party and its ally in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference (NC), for "lack of development" in the valley in the past six decades. The BJP president also demanded an enquiry into utilization of funds in the state.
