Puri, Oct 10 (ANI): Internationally famed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Friday urged for peace in Jammu and Kashmir state through his sculpture at Puri beach in Odisha. Pattnaik crafted a five feet long sculpture using three tonnes of sand with a message reading, "Bullets can't bring peace". The sand art also had replicas of national flags of both India and Pakistan, along with face of an injured child. Nine Pakistani and eight Indian civilians have been killed since security forces of both sides started heavy shelling more than a week ago along a 200-km (125-mile) stretch of border in the disputed, region of Kashmir. Nine Pakistani and eight Indian civilians have been killed since security forces of both sides started heavy shelling more than a week ago along a 200-km stretch of border in the disputed region of Kashmir. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also expressed concern about the conflict, deploring the deaths and displacement of civilians in the worst fighting between the two nations in over a decade. District administration arranged buses and villagers around the international border were evacuated to safer regions. Rajouri, Oct 10 (ANI): Schools along border in Rajouri district of Kashmir have been closed down amid continuous shelling. Police said that parents are not sending their children to school due to fear of firing along the fence. Almost 20,000 Indian civilians have fled their homes in the lowlands around Jammu region to escape the fighting, taking refuge in schools and relief camps. On the Pakistan side of the border, villagers moved among piles of debris from walls and roofs of their homes destroyed by mortar shells. India held a meeting on Wednesday of its top security officials to discuss how to handle the conflict. Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called a similar meeting on Friday. A total of nine Pakistani and eight Indian civilians have been killed since fighting erupted more than a week ago along a 200-km (125-mile) stretch of border in the disputed region of Kashmir. Abdullah said that the government is trying its best to help the migrants. India's Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has accused Pakistan of making unprovoked attacks on Indian-controlled Kashmir and threatened heavy retaliation. While visiting migrants seeking shelter in a school in Kathua district in the city, Abdullah told mediapersons, that the migrants have demanded small one-room houses far from border areas to escape cross-border firing in future.
