Dharamsala, Oct 19 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, his holiness the Dalai Lama said that Nobel peace prize to India and Pakistan can help resolve border conflict between the two neighbours. Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai, shot in the head by the Taliban two years ago for advocating girls' right to education, and Indian children's right advocate Kailash Satyarthi won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize on October 10. Expressing his feeling to both awardees, Dalai Lama said the decision to award the Peace Prize to an Indian man and a Pakistani woman together emphasizes that only as human brothers and sisters will we create a more peaceful, happier world. Dalai Lama commended both Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi for working to support children and said that children's future will only be secured if it is ensured that they receive full and equal education. Ceasefire violations likely to affect cross border trade between India, Pakistan

Poonch, Oct 17 (ANI): With cross-border shelling by Pakistan continuing unabated, the cross-LoC (Line of Control) trade between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) is likely to be affected in the coming days. The custodian of cross-LoC trade at Chakan Da Bagh zero point, Mohammad Bashir Lone, said that the Line of Control is a major trade point between both the nations and there has not been direct effect upon trade in Poonch district till now. Products like red chili, cumin, tamarind, bananas, mango, dry dates and dry fruits are exchanged between the two counties. Pak troops continue ceasefire violation in Poonch; politicos react

Hamirpur Sector, Oct 17 (ANI): Pakistan troops resorted to small arms fire in the Hamirpur Sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch District late last night. According to reports, the firing commenced at 9 p.m. and lasted till 10.30 p.m. There was retaliation from the Indian side, the reports added. According to a health services officer, paramedical staff have been put on high alert to supply both medicines and ambulances to any injured security personnel during the cross-LoC firing. On Thursday, a ten-year-old child was injured by the firing from across the border, and is being treated at the Poonch District Hospital. PM Modi meets top military officers at Combined Commanders' Conference

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met top military officers at the defence ministry War Room at a time when tension continues along the border with both China and Pakistan. The Combined Commanders' Conference is the first meeting of the prime minister with all top commanders, including the three service chiefs. The three service chiefs are expected to give elaborate presentations to the prime minister on the security scenario. The Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, will make the first presentation, followed by the Indian Navy Chief Admiral RK Dhowan and the Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh.
