UP Governor BL Joshi resigns

New Delhi, June 17 (ANI): Amid reports that NDA government wants to replace governors appointed by its predecessor, Uttar Pradesh governor BL Joshi tendered his resignation on Tuesday. He has sent his resignation papers to the Home Ministry. Joshi's tenure was to end next month. His resignation could be the start of more such exits of the state governors after the new BJP government took over last month. Home Ministry sources say other UPA-appointed governors who still have two years or more to complete their term are likely to come under pressure as the government has asked President Pranab Mukherjee to ask for their resignations soon. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had said today that the governors should resign themselves as they were appointed by Sonia Gandhi and not on merit. Jun 17, 2014

President's address to Parliament rehash of govt's election manifesto: CPI (M)

New Delhi, June 09 (ANI): The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Monday said that President Pranab Mukherjee's address to the joint session of Parliament is merely a rehash of the election manifesto presented by the incumbent government and not actually a blueprint. Addressing the Parliament, Mukherjee said that the new government would pursue a broad economic reform agenda focused on job creation through public and private investment that also makes containing inflation its top priority. Senior CPI (M) leader, Sitaram Yechury, said the statement was devoid of a blueprint to achieve the targets for the government in the coming year. Yechury urged the government to build a consensus among parties on the issues that were ticklish such as rehabilitation of local Hindu population in Kashmir and pilgrimage tourism. Jun 9, 2014

New Delhi, June 09 (ANI): BSP supremo Mayawati on Monday said the central government has made tall promises as per their election manifesto, but it is now to be seen how those agendas get implemented.
