New Delhi, Jan 31 (ANI): Political leaders on Saturday react even as Northern Railway CPRO Neeraj Sharma said that the 'chai pe charcha' cups on board Shatabdi Express with pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah on them, was a mistake. He said that the Railways is enquiring on the issue and that the cups got mixed up with the other stock unknowingly. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that the cups may have been brought by BJP fans and that the Railway department is not involved in the same. PM Modi says committed to meeting budget deficit goal

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he is committed to meeting this year's budget deficit target, welcoming a cut in interest rates by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on the back of falling inflation. In a speech, Modi said his government would cut wasteful spending, streamline the payment of welfare benefits and raise investment in roads and railways to boost economic growth in Asia's third-largest economy. Modi's comments signalled his assent to RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan's call for "sustained high quality fiscal consolidation" as a condition for further monetary easing after a surprise quarter-point cut on Thursday. Suresh Prabhu pitches for seamless policing for security in Indian railways

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday called for seamless policing to ensure security and safety of the passengers. The minister, addressing the Conference of Director Generals of Police (DGP) of all states on railway security, said with the increase in crimes, it is inevitable that railways will also be its victim. Social, political and economic factors also contribute to the crime rate going up; and unemployment, regional disparities and growing ambitions not being fulfilled also contribute to it, Prabhu added. Inviting the officers to device joint strategy to deal with crimes, especially on running trains, the minister said as law-enforcers there is a challenge as policing in railways is a difficult task. Also present at the conference was Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who said Indian railways is a developmental as well as a strategic asset. Varanasi, Dec 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that his government will not privatise railways and instead wants to put more money for the development of railways. Modi was addressing railway workers in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. Modi was at the Diesel Locomotive Workshop in the city to lay foundation stone of the extension of the workshop. Modi added the private money and foreign investments will be used to facilitate modernization of the national transporter. Highlighting the importance he wanted to give to the railways, Modi talked about setting up four railway universities to boost the capabilities of the sector. Modi said that by bringing modern changes to the railways, India could develop more. The Prime Minister also dedicated to the country a new high tech engine made in the workshop. Three Railway Protection Force personnel killed in brawl among themselves

Howrah, Dec 25 (ANI): Three Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel were killed after they clashed with each other in West Bengal. Other personnel on duty informed that they heard rounds of firing but were unaware of the reason behind the clash. RPF Inspector General (IG), Binod Kumar Daka, said the matter was under investigation. The three deceased personnel have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) J Yadav, two head constables Bhagwat Chowdhury and DK Singh.
