Wagah Border, Nov 4 (ANI): India and Pakistan on Tuesday resumed daily flag-lowering ceremony on the main land border crossing, a day after it was suspended as mark of respect for those killed in a suicide bomb attack on the Pakistan side near the border. At least 57 people were killed and 110 wounded when an explosion ripped through a car park about 500 metres (yards) from Pakistan's border gate just as hundreds of people were leaving after the daily performance on Sunday. In this backdrop, Ministry of Home Affairs had said the daily flag-lowering ceremony would be suspended as a mark of respect for the dead. The people of Hiranagar town in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, participated in the camp in great numbers to be aware of the electoral process of the coming assembly elections in the state. The camp was organised at a government school in the town. The participants of the camp said it is important to strengthen democracy in Kashmir. The assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held between November 21 and December 20. To ensure a larger participation in assembly election in border areas, the District Election Officer, Kathua, Shaheed Iqbal organised the camp under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at Marheen village to make people aware of the need to exercise their franchise.
