DU announces first cut-off list, 100 per cent required for 3 colleges

New Delhi, July 1 (ANI): The first cut-off list of Delhi University for its undergraduate courses released on Tuesday. This is for the third time when the cut-off has touched the 100 per cent mark for admission in three colleges to their B.Sc (Computer Science) course. After much delay due to the row over the controversial four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP), admissions to academic session 2014-15 will begin on Wednesday much to the relief of over 2.7 lakh students who applied this year. Acharya Narendra Dev, ARSD and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College have posed a stiff competition with its 100 per cent cut-off for the computer science programme for non-science aspirants. Jul 1, 2014

N Chandrababu Naidu to visit GAIL blast site with Petroleum Minister

New Delhi/ Andhra Pradesh, June 27 (ANI): After at least 14 people were were burnt to death and several others were injured in a huge gas pipeline blast in the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, state Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered probe in the case. Cutting short his New Delhi trip, Naidu is rushing to East Godavari to reach the accident spot. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is also expected to accompany Naidu to the accident site. He also constituted a committee for the investigation. Holy men in Assam take a break from spiritual odyssey to enjoy FIFA

Guwahati, June 26 (ANI): As the world's top soccer teams vie for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, football fever swept through the alleys of a revered shrine in India's northeast where holy men took a break from their spiritual odyssey to indulge in some football banter. Holy men came down from their Himalayan hideouts and hermits across the country for the annual Tantric fertility festival at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati city of Assam. The holy men, in town to perform sacred rituals during the four -day festival, were seen relaxing from the rigors of their spiritual life by playing out a game of soccer on the footsteps of the shrine with hundreds of onlookers cheering them on. One of the holy men, Bablu Mukherjee, who came to perform rituals at the temple, said they are excited to watch the World Cup on television. PM, President condoles death of people killed in Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani train mishap

New Delhi, June 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the death of people who were killed after the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express train derailed. PMO tweeted, "The PM has condoled the loss of lives due to the accident of the Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. He prays for the speedy recovery of the injured" Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee too expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express accident. In a message, the President has said "I am saddened to learn about the derailment of a train near Chhapra this morning, in which some persons have lost their lives and many others are injured. President receives copy of 'Encyclopedia of Hinduism'

New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday received a copy of the Encyclopedia of Hinduism at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Auditorium. The President complimented Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji of the Parmarth Niketan Rishikesh, the founder-chairman of India Heritage Research Foundation (IHRF) for undertaking the effort to bring out the encyclopedia. Present at the event were also LK Advani, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Uma Bharti.
