Rahul Gandhi visits Delhi slum, dares govt to run bulldozer over him to demolish slums

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited Rangpur Pahadi slums in south Delhi, where hundreds of dwellings were demolished a couple of days ago, and sent out a stern warning to the Centre against resorting to such action. Vowing to fight for the poor who were left homeless after Tuesday's demolition drive, Rahul said that if they want to use the bulldozer again, it will be his body they will have to cross first. The slum dwellers chanted slogans in support of the Congress vice-president as he interacted with some of them. Gandhi’s visit to the Rangpuri Pahari slum comes at a time when Delhi is gearing up for the assembly polls. Army says militants trying to disrupt polls in Kashmir

Jammu, Nov 27 (ANI): Indian army's top official said intelligence inputs suggested that militants along the Line of Control (LoC) and hinterland were trying to disrupt the ongoing election process in Kashmir. General Officer Commanding 16 Corps Lieutenant General KH Singh said that the activities are being carried on with the sole intention of disturbing the ongoing polls in the state. Singh also said that the army is fully equipped and prepared to deal with any such activities along the international border. Rajouri, Nov 27 (ANI): A foot-over Bridge damaged in the floods that devastated the state of Jammu and Kashmir in September this year remains unrepaired, forcing villagers to cross the river flowing below at immense peril to their lives. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. People risk their lives crossing the bridge by holding on to the steel ropes of the destroyed bridge. The villagers said that more than three months on, the bridge has not been repaired. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced 5.7 billion rupees in assistance for housing and 1.8 billion rupees to fix six major hospitals in the state that are in poor condition and need immediate federal support. Meanwhile, Sub-District Magistrate, Sukh Pal Singh, said that the bridge has sustained heavy damages. Nov 27, 2014
