Canada foreign minister meets Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday and met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj for a discussion on Canada-India relations to strengthen bilateral economic ties between the two countries. Baird also commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child at a school in the national capital. India and Canada were expected to discuss on the bilateral issues at the meeting, including matters related to security, defence, counter-terrorism, space and nuclear cooperation. Baird, who is on a five-day visit to India, is accompanied by Canadian International Trade Minister Ed Fast and National Revenue Minister Kerry-Lynne Findlay among others. Pranab Mukherjee hopes for strengthened ties with Norway on his three-day visit

Oslo, Oct 14 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee said that India is keen to expand scope of relationship with Norway. He was invited by King Harald Vth and Queen Sonja, at a gala dinner at the Royal Palace at Oslo after he was given a ceremonial guard of honour earlier in the day. Mukherjee arrived in Norway's capital Oslo on Sunday and was received by Mayor Harald Espelund of Ullensaker. He is the first ever Indian head of state to visit Norway who is expected to reach an agreement on nuclear safety measures and other fields like education, trade and earth science. He also invited investors and entrepreneurs to invest in India. Meanwhile, King Harald Vth congratulated India's children rights crusader Kailash Satyarthi for winning the Nobel Peace Prize along with Pakistan's teenage education activist, Malala Yousafzai. Mukherjee is on a three-day visit to Norway and the main focus of his three-day visit is to attract investment in infrastructure and other areas. Politicos say Pak 'playing old game'as it writes to UN asking to intervene on Kashmir issue

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday said that Pakistan is 'playing its same old game'after Nawaz Sharif's foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz wrote to United Nations asking to intervene in Kashmir issue. BJP said that Pakistan is doing what it has been doing on facing a defeat and that is, to internationalize the issue. Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Indian government will continue to retaliate if Pakistan does not budge from its activities on international border. Meanwhile, Congress and CPI leaders also condemned the letter and said that Pakistan should check on its activities before blaming India. Addressing a letter to UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, Aziz Aziz said UN had an important role in the peaceful resolution of the "core" issue of JandK and that UNMOGIP, described by India as a tool of a bygone era, needed to be strengthened under the circumstances.
