Veteran Bollywood Actor Deven Verma passes away

New Delhi, Dec 02 (ANI): Veteran Hindi film and television actor Deven Verma passed away at Sahyadri Hospital in Pune on Tuesday. According to reports, the 78-year-old actor suffered a cardiac arrest and succumbed to kidney failure. Verma was the popular face in Hindi cinema, known for tickling the funny bone of movie lovers during the golden period. He has won Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Chori Mera Kaam, Chor Ke Ghar Chor and Angoor, the last being directed by Gulzar and still considered one of Bollywood's best comedies. IPL Scam: BCCI trying to brush the matter under the carpet, in interest of its former chief, says Ad

New Delhi, Dec 1 (ANI): Petitioner in the IPL spot fixing case Aditya Verma on Monday said that the BCCI is trying to brush the matter under the carpet, in interest of its former chief N Srinivasan. The Supreme Court on Monday had again question Srinivasan on spot-fixing and betting case. The Mudgal Committee, headed by Justice (retired) Mukul Mudgal, appointed to probe the IPL match fixing scam, submitted its final report to the Supreme Court on November 03. Srinivasan, who was attending an International Cricket Council (ICC) event in Chennai refused to comment when asked by the reporters about his role in the scam. Meanwhile, Justice (Retired) Mukul Mudgal said that it was best to wait for the judgment by the Supreme Court as they have submitted the report. Dec 1, 2014

Cricket association of Bihar urges SC to make names in final probe report public

New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): Cricket association of Bihar has urged the Supreme Court to make the names of cricketers mentioned in the final probe report of Indian Premier League (IPL) scam public in the interest of the sport. Advocate Harish Salve, appearing for Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), asked the Supreme Court to disclose the full Mudgal committee report while also producing in the court IPL accreditation documents that show Gurunath Meiyappan as the team principal of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Petitioner Aditya Verma said he has full faith in the court to deliver justice in the case. The Supreme Court had relieved Srinivasan of his duties as the country's cricket board president to ensure a fair investigation into the IPL scam, in which Meiyappan was indicted for illegal betting on the 2013 IPL. New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): The Supreme Court has slammed International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman N Srinivasan on Monday over corruption in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 competition. The Court asked the suspended BCCI president N Srinivasan how he could own an IPL team while remaining head of the cricket establishment in the country. Meanwhile, head of the probe committee, retired Justice Mukul Mudgal, however, refused to comment on the matter. In March, Srinivasan, regarded as the world's most powerful cricket administrator, was called on by the apex court to leave his post at the BCCI to ensure a fair investigation into the IPL Scam.
