PM Modi lauds BSF's 'dedication and valour' on its 49th Raising Day

New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Appreciating the contribution of the Border Security Force (BSF) towards national security on its 49th Raising Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that their dedication and valour always inspire the country. PM Modi tweeted, "On BSF Raising Day, we salute our BSF personnel, who tirelessly and courageously protect our borders. Their dedication and valour always inspire." Meanwhile, in national capital Delhi, the Border Security Force (BSF) is celebrating its 49th Raising day. The force was raised on December 1, in 1965. Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh is also present at the occasion. The BSF is being extensively utilised on internal security duties in several states. Besides, it is manning 3,323 kms length Indo-Pakistan border, which runs through the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Dec 1, 2014

BSF ensures water-tight security along international borders

Gandhinagar, Nov 30 (ANI): India's paramilitary Border Security Force top official on Sunday ensured water-tight security along the borders with reconstruction of fences and other safety measures being taken where ever needed. Addressing the media in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat, Inspector General of Border Security Force, Santosh Mehra said a large number of technical experts have been involved for the purpose. Artists from India and Pakistan share stage during music festival to bolster bilateral ties

Amritsar, Nov 30 (ANI): A 41-member delegation of Pakistani artists shared stage with their Indian counterparts during a joint cultural festival 'Saanjh' in Amritsar city. The event is likely to bring the peace building process back on track. With an aim to bolster the bilateral ties and restart the peace building measures, which were derailed by the recent skirmishes along the international border, the event brings together cultural artists of both nuclear-armed neighbours with a positive note. The festival is being organised by centre for preservation and promotion of heritage Punarjyot in collaboration with its Lahore-based counterpart Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW). Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil who was present at the festival, said peace will come not with fights but maturity. Forty Indian prisoners released from Karachi jail return back home

Amritsar, Nov 30 (ANI): 40 prisoners released from Karachi jail in Pakistan returned to India. The prisoners including 35 fishermen and five civilians reached Punjab via Wagah Border. Pakistan had released the Indian prisoners on Friday as a "goodwill gesture". The prisoners said that they were happy and thanked the Indian government for securing their release. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Pakistan and India routinely detain fishermen from entering each other's waters for fishing. They mistakenly enter other's waters as there is no demarcation of maritime boundaries. Nov 30, 2014

Defence experts say govt should deal carefully with arrested ISIS suspect

Chandigarh/ Bhopal, Nov 29 (ANI): Arif Majeed, who was detained by National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Mumbai airport on suspicion of being an Islamic State (IS) militant, was produced in court on Saturday (November 29). Majeed, who belongs to Maharashtra and was one of the four youths who went to Iraq, was detained on Friday (November 28). Reacting to his arrest, Lieutenant General (retired) Srinivas Kumar Sinha said there is a need on the part of intelligence agencies to be more careful.
