BJP hails Delhi budget, opposition slams

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): The Delhi Budget, which was presented by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday met with wide criticism from rival party leaders. Manish Sisodia of the Aam Aadmi Party said that the BJP budget was no different from the Congress budget, as it has nothing to offer to the common man. Congress leader Haroon Yusuf stated that the BJP has only proved that Congress' policies where always right. On the other hand BJP leader and Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan said that not just the BJP, even the people of Delhi were very happy with the budget. The 36,776 crore budget proposes new medical colleges, multi speciality hospital, girls' high schools, remote ambulances, community toilets and most importantly, power subsidy for small electricity consumers. BSE closes points 80.40 up on July 18

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 80.40 points up to stand at 25,641.56. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 23.45 points up to stand at 7,663.90. Exide Industries ltd. and Muthoot Finance Ltd. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 4.07% and 3.76% along with Shriram City Union Finance Ltd. and Karnataka Bank with an increase of 3.15% and 3.12% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Indian Hotels and GMR Infra with a decrease of 6.96% and 4.01% along with REC and Financial Tech with a decrease of 3.64% and 3.62% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 3.08 points at 15,713.19 while the banking sector is up 134.21 points at 17,611.71 and the realty sector is down 17.55 points at 1,981.36. Arun Jaitley to present Delhi_s budget

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the Delhi_s budget in parliament on Friday as the city assembly has been kept under suspended animation and the President Rule is in force. Ahead of presentation of Delhi_s budget by Jaitley, the city unit of BJP urged him to provide power subsidy to consumers. Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay urged Jaitley to grant Rs 800 crore as power subsidy saying people are burdened with very heavy electricity bills. The Sheila Dikshit government had provided subsidy of Rs 1 per unit for consumption between 0-200 units and 200-400 units for several years. In the union budget, Jaitley had allocated Rs 700 crore to Delhi to help overcome the problem of power transmission and water distribution system. Jaitley had proposed Rs 500 crore for reform in the water sector while Rs 200 crore has been set aside for reform in the power sector. Jul 18, 2014
