New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): Indian national, Father Alexis Prem Kumar Ananthaswamy, who was abducted in Afghanistan, thanked the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his release after his arrival in New Delhi. The 47-year-old Jesuit priest was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from Herat in June last year and was being held as a captive. However, he refused to divulge his experience in captivity. The Indian foreign ministry had said it was difficult eight month period and India had pursued the matter quite relentlessly and thanked everybody involved in the process. Feb 23, 2015

India secures release of Jesuit priest father Alexis Prem Kumar from Afghanistan, MEA says he is in

New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): India has secured the release of Jesuit priest Father Alexis Prem Kumar who had been in Taliban captivity in Afghanistan since June last year. Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that he is in safe hands and will return to his home with his family shortly. He said that this has been a difficult eight months period where the government of India persuaded the matter relentlessly and that the prime minister has also been keeping track of the case. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight over the release of Father Kumar. "Delighted at securing the release of Indian Jesuit priest Father Alexis Prem Kumar from captivity in Afghanistan. Have spoken to Father Alexis Prem Kumar. UAVs get special slot in Indian Aero Show as Home Ministry amplifies its usage

Bengaluru, Feb 22 (ANI): Aeronautical development wing of India's premier Defence Research and Development Organisation showcased indigenous UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) at the Asia-Aero India 2015 in Bengaluru. The UAVs are in great demand by the armed forces battling Maoist insurgency. Since Maoist rebels operate from jungles and difficult mountain terrains, security forces rely largely on drones and UAVs to monitor their movements. Indian army guarding the western sector also uses drones and UAVs extensively to foil infiltration by militants from across the border. Officials of Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) displayed their pet project "Nishant" which has undergone major technological changes since it was first introduced in the 90s.
