Gujarat, Feb 27 (ANI): Visually impaired people experienced car driving in Gujarat as they took part in a blind car rally on Sunday. At the rally the sighted drivers were navigated by visually impaired individuals, with their route mapped in Braille. Around 90 visually impaired navigators were selected to drive across pre-selected city circuit. The rally, which was organised by Ahmedabad Round Table 40, aims at making society aware of the challenges faced by visually impaired people. India fully prepared to tackle swine flu, says health ministry

New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, Feb 26 (ANI): Union Minister of State for health, Shripad Naik said that all measures to combat swine flu were in place amid rising cases of H1N1 virus. Health Minister JP Nadda had made a statement in both houses of parliament regarding the swine flu situation in the country. He said that teams were sent to guide and assist state governments on H1N1 virus as per need. Naik said apart from the regular medicines, his ministry was also supervising the usage of traditional medicines. Meanwhile, in bid to prevent swine flu from spreading, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, prohibiting mass gatherings without prior permission, has been imposed in Ahmedabad city. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus. Symptoms for swine flu include high fever, headache, muscle pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pain and internal and external bleeding. Feb 26, 2015

Ahmedabad, Feb 25 (ANI): Police arrested six people with 60 kilograms of gold bullion in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Joint commissioner of Gujarat, AK Sharma, said the accused came from Dubai by an Emirates flight. Section 144 imposed in Ahmedabad to prevent swine flu

Siliguri/ Kanpur, Feb 25 (ANI): Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, prohibiting mass gatherings without prior permission, has been imposed in Ahmedabad in order to prevent swine flu. However, gathering for marriages and death processions have been exempted. According to reports, if the public events cannot be called off or postponed, organisers will have to take prior permission to ensure that proper care is taken to stop the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, doctors in West Bengal say that hospitals in northern part of the state were fully equipped to provide medical facilities to swine flu afflicted patients. Doctor Rudra Nath Bhattacharya said that North Bengal Medical College had set up an isolation word, appointed maximum number of staff and kept close watch on the pig farms. Congress workers distribute free masks, medicines to combat swine flu

Ahmedabad/ Jaipur/ Siddharthnagar, Feb 22 (ANI): Workers of Congress party distributed free masks and medicines to residents in Gujarat as a precautionary measure to fight swine flu. India has seen a sharp rise in the number of swine flu deaths and reported cases this year. Nearly 700 lives have been claimed in the country due to the disease. More than 11,000 people, including children, reportedly took part in the campaign organised by Congress party. In view of the swine flu rush, the Central government last week had placed an order to increase the national stock of diagnostic kits to test for the virus. Bus plunges into gorge in Madhya Pradesh, 10 killed

Dhar, Feb 17 (ANI): A private bus carrying around 60 passengers on board plunged into a gorge near Machaliya Ghat in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, killing over 10 passengers including a minor and a woman. Other than that, over 20 were left injured when the incident took place late Monday evening. The bus was on its way to Galiakot in Rajasthan from Indore and the mishap occurred at the Indore-Ahmedabad national highway. According to reports, the injured are currently undergoing treatment in different hospitals of Jhabua district.
