Artisans in state capital, Agartala, remain apprehensive as idol-making has been delayed due to the rains and efforts have to be geared up to complete the work on time. An artisan, Khokan Rudra Paul, said they have to employ more workers to complete the backlog that has occurred because of the rains. Usually, by this time, the artisans complete the mud work of the idols and shift the idols for colouring and last finishing, but this year because of the heavy rains, the idols are still wet and work has halted. The artisans use polythenes to cover the idols from the rain water. If the shower continues for a couple of days more, they would have to hire blow lanterns and gas flames to dry the idols.
